Finally Fell In

Now that we put Zander's toys in the ottoman, I was just waiting for him to fall in trying to reach something. Luckily it's soft. Maybe next time I'll get the picture on the way in.

Lebanon Fair

Our friend Jesse came to visit, and since she's from Iowa, and loves farm stuff, we splurged and went to the Lebanon Area Fair. Seems crazy that the state fair only charges for parking, but the Lebanon fair charges $4 admission and most everything inside costs extra...

First, we watched the tractor pull (outside the fence... even this cost extra!). It was VERY exciting.

Then, Zander got to touch his first horse. I think he liked it!

Next was Angola rabbits... have you ever seen one of these? They are ridiculously furry.

And finally, a milkshake from the dairy barn. Figured we already had our Funnel Cake for the season in NJ. I'd have to say Zander liked the milkshake best.

Trip to Philly

We had to get away from camp for the day, and Brent keeps talking about how he hasn't been to Philly since we moved. So, since it's only a little over an hour away, we may a quick trip of it.

First, we went to see the historical Independence Hall. Since we aren't really history buffs, it was a quick stop.

Zander enjoyed looking at the bell, and probably would have gone under the railing to touch it if we would have let him.

We also lucked into seeing a Water Armonica, invented by Ben Franklin. Makes beautiful music, and the woman even played "Twinkle, Twinkle" for Zander.

Zander wanted to give a tip, but we didn't have any change.

And finally, what's Philly without a cheesesteak? However, Zander did not care for it.

Brent didn't have a problem.

Zander liked it better once it didn't look like a giant hot sandwich, but instead, meat on his snack tray.

Minus the traffic and tolls, we had a great trip. We were also reminded why we don't live in a city... wouldn't last more than an afternoon!

Zander's Birthday!!

Many more photos besides this one to post for you, along with a "special video"... Since we were very busy Friday, and then had guests, then more camp and time to recover, I haven't gotten to making the slideshow yet. Here's a preview of Zander enjoying the cake- post disaster...

More Camp Happenings

This week, Zander enjoyed his first hayride. He really enjoyed it, and if you look closely, he got to watch Brent drive it! Luckily, we weren't on the first ride- I won't tell you what happened there...

He also "officially" joined the staff this week, and got his own staff shirt. The smallest size is Youth S, which means it should fit him for a while...

And something Zander has learned this week is to use a sippy cup. He's gotten so good, he can hold it in lots of different ways.

Zander is also getting very good at walking, crawling, and climbing, which means he's EVERYWHERE! It's very fun, and exciting to see him get around. We'll take some video to share with you soon! 5 days til he's 1!!

First Haircut

Yesterday, we attempted Zander's first haircut. Since he absolutely hates anything near his head, it was a bit of a challenge, but in the end, we were able to get rid of the point in the front and mullet in back without injuring him.

His Best Walk Yet

Here's Zander's "walking" video- getting very close!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COUSINS!!

Happy 1st Birthday to Ainsley and Happy 7th Birthday to Lauren! We miss you guys, and are looking forward to seeing you soon!
(Sorry Rasta didn't make the photo... she's out running in the woods!)

Learned the "other" Crawl

After a visit last week with Mateo, Zander started crawling on all fours. And after a visit this week with Clare, he's trying to walk everywhere (video to come). Growing up so fast!

Upcoming First Birthday!

For those of you wondering what kinds of things Zander would enjoy for his birthday (July 17), I put together this list. You don't have to order from Amazon, and if you even have some of these types of things in your home that your kids no longer play with and want to pass along, that's even better! Looking forward to celebrating his first birthday at Hershey Park!

Happy July 4th!

Today, Zander celebrated his first July 4th. We didn't go to fireworks, although on the 3rd, he witnessed his first 'backyard show' at camp with ones that spray up from the ground in lots of colors. He was scared and cried some, but at the same time, couldn't stop watching them. When I tried to walk away, he just kept watching... So, I figure we'll wait for big ones next year maybe. We did have a good and busy day anyway. We went swimming, and enjoyed all these other things:

Zander had his first sample of Jigger Shop Ice Cream

We're pretty sure he liked it!

Ok, really sure he liked it!

He practiced his walking (almost there- 9 steps or so, and taking off on his own)

Climbed his first set of stairs, and did the "Rocky" celebration after (that's on video)

We also went to visit the Miller's at their campground, where Zander went swinging,

Helped build a campfire,

And enjoyed a nice walk with mom.

Thanks Millers for the visit and a wonderful Fourth of July!
